A Cistern is a waterproof receptacle for holding liquids, usually water. Cisterns are often built to catch and store water. They are distinguished from wells from their waterproof linings. Cisterns were used before a water system was used in Ponce Inlet. The water was used for many purposes including cooking, irrigation, and washing.HM Number | HM24A2 |
