Pleasant Hill Baptist Church traces its roots to as early as 1836 in the Lebanon Baptist Church. Sometime after 1847 the Black congregation of that church organized the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church on a site near this cemetery. The church building no longer stands. While burials took place in this cemetery as early as 1855, the earliest marked grave is 1904. The congregation moved to Roswell in the early 1900s. A new edifice was completed in 1963 on Pleasant Hill Street.
