Built 1750

Home of Rufus King, who served his state and country with honor and distinction as delegate to the Continental Congress 1784, 1785, 1786. U.S. Senator from New York, 1789-1796, Minister to England 1796-1803, 1825-1826, under Washington, Adams, and Jefferson. Returned to Senate 1813. Re-elected to fourth term 1819.

Also home of John Alsop King, son of Rufus King, elected to Congress 1848. Governor of New York 1857-1859, who died here July 7, 1867.
