Le Village historique acadien, c'est quoi?...c'est quand?

Le Village presents the lifestyle, culture and traditions of the Acadians of Nova Scotia at the turn of the 20th century, approximately 250 years after they first settled in the Pubnico area. This is the longest established Acadian region worldwide, and is one of the few areas to which Acadians were able to return after the tragic period of the Deportation (1755 to 1762).
Le Village presents Acadian life in the early 1900s, a time when the Acadian communities in the Pubnico area and throughout Nova Scotia were thriving with a prosperous fishery, significant shipbuilding industry, and some farming. The tragedies of the past are never forgotten, but the Acadian resilience and determination are reflected as families moved forward with strength and confidence.
Period buildings from nearby Acadian communities have been relocated to this panoramic seaside setting. Each of these dwellings and structures is steeped in history, and our animators look forward to welcoming you with fascinating stories of the tragedies and triumphs of Acadian history.
Le Village présente le style de vie, la culture et les traditions des Acadiens de la Nouvelle-Écosse, du début de 20^e siècle, approximativement 250 ans après la première colonisation de la région de Pubnico. Cette région représente le plus ancien établissement acadien de
partout au monde, et une des rares régions où les Acadiens ont pu retourner, après la période tragique de la déportation (1755-1762).
Le Village présente la vie acadienne du début des années 1900, une période où les communautés acadiennes de la région de Pubnico et de partout en Nouvelle-Écosse sont florissantes, grâce à l'industrie prospère de la pêche, la construction navale significative et un peu d'agriculture. Les tragédies du passé ne sont pas oubliées, mais le ressort et la détermination des Acadiens sont bien reflétés, puisque les familles vont de l'avant avec force et confiance.
Les édifices de cette époque, provenant de communautés acadiennes avoisinantes, furent déplacés à ce site panoramique au bord de la mer. Chacun des ces logis et bâtiments est imprégné d'histoire, et nos animateurs sont empressés de vous accueillir. Ils vous feront connaître l'histoire de l'Acadie, grâce aux récits passionnants de ses tragédies et ses triomphes.
