El Autor de los "Ojos Tristes"En esta casa vivió su infancia el laureado escritor y poeta Don Alfredo Aguilar Alfaro, quien naciera en la población de Calotmul, Yucatán el 20 de Octubre de 1902; sus primeros estudios los realizó en Valladolid hasta que, a la llegada de Salvador Alvarado a Yucatán, su familia se trasladó a Mérida. Sus primeros libros fuerton "De mis Senderos" y "La Divina Ociosidad" editados ambos en la Ciudad de México, el primero en 1928 y el segundo en 1940. En el año de 1943 obtuvo el primer lugar de los Juegos Florales de Valladolid con su "Canto a Valladolid". Fueron muy pocos los versos de Alfredo Aguilar Alfaro que fueron convertidos en canción, siendo el tema más conocido "Ojos tristes" que fue musicalizado por Guty Cárdenas. Otras canciones con letra suya son "En un Minuto de Ilusión" musicalizada por Ricardo Palmerín y a la que Guty pensaba ponerle música, cosa que no llegó a ocurrir debido a su inesperado asesinato. Este mismo poema fue musicalizado por Ermilio Padrón, José Diaz Bolio y José Antonio Castillo. Jesús Haro y Tamariz musicalizó su poema "Ya Nunca Más"; El Chel Solís, "Solamente Una Vez"; Héctor Aguilar Quiroz, "Sublime Visión"; Fausto Cámara Zavala "Beso

He was born in Calotmul, Yucatán on October 20, 1902. He undertook his first studies in Valladolid until the arrival to Yucatán of Salvador Alvarado, when his family moved to Mérida. His first books were "De mis Senderos" (Of my Paths) and "La Divina Ociosidad" (The Divine Idleness), both edited in Mexico City, the first one in 1928, the second one in 1940. In 1943 he obtained the first place in the Juegos Flores de Valladolid (Valladolid´s Floral Games) with his "Canto a Valladolid" (Song to Valladolid) Very few of his verses were turned into songs, the best known one being "Ojos Tristes", musicalized by Guty Cárdenas. Other songs with lyricas of him are "En un Minuto de Ilusión" with music from Ricardo Palmerín, a song that Guty thought about adding music to, before his unexpected murder.
