New River Gorge National RiverBefore you is an excellent view of the upper gorge area of New River Gorge National River. This section of the gorge is broad and the river is wide, unlike the steep V-shaped canyon found downstream of Sandstone Falls. As the New River cut its way through this portion of the landscape, it left behind level land along its banks.
