The ten-man gun crew and ammunition detachment worked closely together to ensure safe and precise loading and firing of the 6-inch guns. They followed a sequence when in action:
1) Gun crew and ammunition detachment alerted and take post at the gun and in the magazine
2) Ammunition and equipment readied for firing
3) Battery Commander assigned target
4) Fire orders issued
5) Gun loaded in down position
6) Gun raised to firing position
7) Gun aimed
8) Gun fired and returns to loading position
9) Repeat sequence until cease firing order is issued

Les dix hommes des équipes de pièce et des munitions travaillaient en étroite collaboration pour assurer la sécurité et la précision du chargement et du tir des canons de 6 pouces. La mise en batterie s'exécutait selon l'enchaînement suivant:
1) Les membres des équipes de pièce et des munitions étaient alertés et se postaient près du canon et dans le magasin.
2) Les munitions et le matériel étaient préparés en vue du tir.
3) Le commandant de batterie désignait la cible.
4) Les ordres de tir étaient donnés.
5) On chargeait le canon alors qu'il était abaissé.
6) On levait le canon à la position de tir.
7)
On pointait le canon.
8) Après le tir, le canon retournait à la position de chargement.
9) On répétait cet enchaînement jusqu'a ce qu'on donne l'ordre de cesser le feu.
