This Battery

Captain George Q. Gardner commanding, attached to Post's Brigade, was detailed to cover the withdrawal of the trains from Stevens' Gap to Crawfish Springs and thence to Chattanooga. Upon reaching foot of Lookout Mountain it met an attack which was repulsed by the free use of canister. It was one of the last commands to cross Chickamauga Creek.
