Reynolds’ Division

—Thomas’ Corps. —

King's Brigade
Reynolds' Division - Thomas' Corps.
Colonel Edward A. King
1st Position.
68th Indiana - Captain Harvey J. Espy.
75th Indiana - Colonel Milton S. Robinson.
101st Indiana - Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Doan.
105th Ohio - Major George T. Perkins.
19th Indiana Battery - Captain Samuel J. Harris.
19th Indiana Battery - Lieutenant Robert S. Lackey.
(September 19, 1863, Afternoon.)

Upon reaching the Poe House on its way to join Turchin's Brigade, which had been sent to the left of Palmer's Division, King's Brigade was diverted to the support of Palmer's right, three regiments moving to that position, leaving the 75th Indiana to support the 19th and 7th Indiana Batteries, in position on this line, around which General Reynolds was organizing a reserve. These regiments drifting further to the right in an effort to assist Van Cleve's two Brigades, the 75th Indiana was sent in on Grose's right. Soon after 3:30 o'clock King's Brigade was forced back to this position by the advance of the right of Johnson's and the left of Stewart's Divisions, and rallied behind the batteries collected by General Reynolds. After holding this position for a short time, sustaining a fierce attack in front and flank, the Brigade and line were forced to abandon position and reform
in rear of the Divisions of Brannan and Negley then advancing in the Dyer field.
