Text on the Second Tablet:

F

The Brigade struck the left of Scribner's Brigade of Baird's Division and after brief resistance from that line pushed on to the next crest north then occupied in part by King's Brigade of Baird's Division. Taking a portion of this Brigade in flank capturing its battery (N, 5th U.S.) and many prisoners it pushed on after King's retiring Brigade but was checked by VanDerveer's Brigade of Brannan's Division.
The regular battery was almost immediately recaptured by the 9th Ohio of Van Deriver's Brigade. At the same time Croxton's Brigade appeared on the left flank of Liddell's Brigade and both Walthall and Liddell were hastily withdrawn by their right flank and reformed in rear of Cheatham's line which was then arriving.
