On the 17th day of September 1987, this tree was planted to commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the ratification of the Constitution of the United States.

It serves as a living document that guarantees the freedom of these United States and those who serve to defend it.

The soil used was taken from the grounds of Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
