The Site Over Time
Today the site looks very different than it would have 170 years ago, when Fort Malden was at its height. Almost all the buildings from that period have been lost, and most of the ditch and wall that encircled the fort is gone. The large building in front of you (the museum) was built after the fort ceased to be a military post, and private homes still occupy part of the site.
If you had visited the site a hundred years ago, it would have seemed far less open and park-like than it does today, with a number of larger buildings forming a square.
When this photo was taken about 80 years ago, the building in front of you was still a private residence. The image was taken from the upper floor of another house on the site, since removed.

Aujourd'hui, le site n'a pas le m?me aspect qu'il avait il y a 170 ans lorsque le fort Malden ?tait ? son apog?e. Toutes les constructions de cette ?poque n'existent plus et la majeure partie du foss? et du mur qui encerclait le fort ont disparu. Le gros ?difice en face de vous (le mus?e) a ?t? construit apr que le fort eu cess? d'?tre un poste militaire, et des maisons priv?es occupent toujours une partie des lieux.
Si vous aviez visit? ces lieux il y a cent ans, ils auraient paru beaucoup moins ouverts et auraient moins eu l'aspect de parc qu'ils ont aujourd'hui. Un certain nombre de gros ?difices auraient ?t? dispos en carr?.
Lorsque cette photographie a ?t? prise il y a environ 80 ans, l'?difice devant vous ?tait toujours une ridence priv?e. La photo a ?t? prise ? partir l'?tage sup?rieur d'une autre maison, aujourd'hui disparue.
